About Med-HELA
Erasmus+ CBHE Project (2026β2028)
The Mediterranean Higher Education Leadership Academy (Med-HELA) project supports universities in Algeria and Tunisia in strengthening leadership capacity to drive higher education reform. It focuses on improving governance, strategic planning, and management to enhance the quality and impact of universities.
Through the creation of a dedicated academy and a certified Leadership Development Programme (MHE-LDP), the project offers training, networking, and practical learning opportunities for university leaders. By the end of the project, over 1,200 leaders will benefit from its activities, ensuring lasting impact and continued development across the region.
PROJECT OBJECTIVES
Strengthen Leadership Capacities
Develop and enhance governance, strategic planning, and management skills within Mediterranean higher education institutions to support ongoing sector reform.
Provide Tailored Training
Establish the Med – Higher Education Leadership Academy and deliver a certificated Leadership Development Programme adapted to the region’s specific needs.
Innovate and Equip
Create a specialized Higher Education Leadership Qualities and Skills app and build dedicated, fully-equipped training hubs to support sustained, hybrid learning.
Empower Local Trainers
Train and equip university staff to independently implement, deliver, and sustain high-quality leadership development programs long after the project ends.
Promote Collaboration
Foster powerful partnerships and share best practices through collaborative platforms across Algeria, Tunisia, the broader Mediterranean region, and the EU.
Drive Sector Modernization
Foster excellence in leadership and support structural change projects to navigate regional challenges and maximize HE’s impact on society and the economy.
